Most Not Out In IPL

If you ever played gully or even professional cricket you would always want to be remain not out till the end of the innings and it’s obvious to have that mindset because who does want to be the hero for his own team in winning cause. Same goes with international and IPL players where they stands till the very last ball where they contributes to their team. Certainly, it’s not easy to remain not out because you have to face every bowler in different situations of the game, still there are many great players with most not out in IPL.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni owns the record of most not out in IPL history where he played 248 matches and remained as not out player 87 times in his IPL career.

Top 5 Players With Highest Not out in IPL

1. MS. Dhoni

  • I reckon there are not enough words in my dictionary to describe this iconic Captain and incredible player MS. Dhoni. As I mentioned above that he has remained unbeaten in 87 innings out of 248 ipl games which shows why fans calls him as a one of the greatest finisher of cricket and probably nightmare for the bowlers in slog overs.
  • Now you may think that he has achieved this record of ‘most not outs’ because most of the times he comes in the crease between 16-20 overs. Yes you are right, but you cannot ignore the fact that he is the only player who smashed most number of sixes in death overs which clearly shows that he always tries to score as much runs as he can for the team.
  • Moreover, consistently playing quick knocks in last overs is something which most of the players has not done often as compared to Dhoni. Once a friend of mine asked why dhoni always comes as not-out in ipl? I said, probably because he is very good at reading the bowlers mind and the situation of the game which makes him to stand till the last ball.

2. Ravindra Jadeja

  • Yet Another CSK player, Sir Ravindra Jadeja comes in the 2nd position in terms of most not out in IPL, which includes 71 not- outs in 244 IPL matches as of now in 2023. Along with Dhoni, Jadeja also plays important role of finishing the innings for CSK with his quick strike rate.
  • As Dhoni is at his last stage of his IPL career, which makes Jadeja to fill out the role of finisher for the team in upcoming years for the franchise which he has done absolutely well, prime example of his match winning knock against Gujarat Titans in IPL Final 2023 due to which CSK able to lift trophy for the 5th time.
  • It will not wrong to say that in the shadow of MSD, Jadeja has certainly improved his game and ability to take the game deep and to wait for the loose balls to score some quick runs. So far, he has been really exceptional when it comes to bat in death overs.
  • Over the period of time there is a interesting which I found in his batting which is the, knowing and targeting the main bowler of opposition team when it requires which literally breaks the opponent team’s bowling unit.

3. Kieron Pollard

  • Former Mumbai Indian player who has played some destructive knocks of IPL with his hard hitting six abilities Kieron Pollard has been came as a not out 52-times out of 189 IPL matches and made his way in this list of most not out in IPL. Pollard has played with Mumbai Indians till 2021, later when he took retirement from IPL he choose to stay with the franchise as a coach.
  • Certainly, Pollard was the hand behind the success of Mumbai Indians in IPL history. From time and time again on many occasion Pollard not only rescued his team but also remained not out many times which depicts how well prepared he his to bat till the very end of the inning.
  • I can assure one thing, If Pollard is in decent form and plays his first 8-10 balls you will see him coming out of the ground as not out by scoring quick 30-40 valuable runs. Not to forget he his the 2nd player to enter in the club of hitting six sixes in a over in international cricket.

4. Dinesh Karthik

  • Hero of the Nidahas Trophy Final who played an unbelievable knock of his career in high pressure match, Dinesh Karthik features in 4th place in this list of Most Not Out In IPL. Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik’s IPL career was not constant in terms of performance but still he managed to remain not out 46 times in 242 IPL games which he played.
  • I often times heard different opinions on Karthik, Some say he is very overrated player and scores once in a while. Whereas some says that he is the 2nd best wicket keeper batsman of the former Indian team. What I personally think is, Dinesh Karthik is a player who can be beneficial for the team to score runs in difficult situations and tricky wickets.
  • Recently his 2022 IPL season with RCB has been exceptional with the bat in lower order, but again in 2023 season his performance dropped drastically that’s what I was saying above if you look at his IPL season you will rarely find he his scoring 400-500 runs consistently for couple seasons. Nevertheless, can deny his stats in international cricket.

5. Dwayne Bravo

  • Former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is mainly known for his death bowling but not to forget his contribution with bat as well for CSK in past years. Bravo has played 242 IPL games on which he remained not out 44 times in his career and grabs 5th spot in this list of Most not outs in IPL history
  • I remember some of his quick knocks with MS Dhoni, actually it used to be interesting to watch him bat because of unique way of hitting sixes. Despite of his weird footwork and bat flow he used to clear the rope effortlessly probably that can be the reason for him to enter in this list of most not outs in IPL history.
  • To be honest, I was bit surprised to see Bravo’s name in this list, not because he is not a good batter but to not able to see the names like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina etc. But then I realised these are the top orders batters which becomes very tough for them because they mostly has to survive 17-20 overs which is definitely not easy.
